What to expect
You can expect a peaceful, relaxed session either in my treatment room or in the comfort of your own home and this can be discussed in our initial telephone conversation. Sessions last approximately one hour, although please allow longer for the initial session which will include a full medical case history during which time there will be the opportunity to discuss any particular health issues. Occasionally, there are contra-indications which mean that a reflexology treatment may not be appropriate at that time but this will be discussed beforehand.
If foot reflexology is felt to be the most beneficial for you, all you need to do is remove your footwear and socks, sit back and relax in a comfortable, reclining chair. I will gently cleanse your feet and you can be reassured that I follow a strict hygiene regime. Sometimes it is useful to work around the areas of the ankles/lower calves and it can be helpful if you wear loose fitting trousers.
If foot reflexology is not for you, hand reflexology may be more appropriate. If this is the case, you will simply sit back and relax while the areas of each hand are gently manipulated in the same manner as I would work on your feet.
Auricular therapy is based on the principles of acupuncture and has been shown to be particularly beneficial for addictions. The ears, once again will be manipulated to find tender areas. A metal probe may be gently used to locate specific reflex points and the use of seeds may be advised so that you can self-manipulate after the session. You can read more about auricular reflexology here.
Depending upon your needs you may want to take the opportunity to have a total relaxation treatment, and simply sit back in the reclining chair, making use of a soft throw or blanket in a comfortable temperature to suit you and enjoy a full reflexology session that will gently aim to rebalance your mind and body.
Alternatively, if you have discussed a particular health issue in the initial consultation I will tailor the treatment to your specific needs.
Whilst working on your feet (at a pressure of your choice) I will ask for your feedback if you experience any areas of tenderness. This will help guide me in the session so that you gain the best outcomes. At the end of the session we will discuss any areas of imbalance that I have found and any suggestions that I may have to address this.
